How to transfer Marriott Bonvoy points

How to transfer Marriott Bonvoy points
Transfers are free, take up to 24 hours, and can only be done on the Marriott website — not the app.

Sign in to the Marriott transfer page
Go to Marriott's points transfer page and sign in with your Bonvoy account email and password.

Enter the recipient's details
Provide their first name, last name, and Marriott Bonvoy member number. Everything must exactly match the receiving member's account details.

Enter the amount
Choose how many points to transfer — minimum 1,000, in increments of 1,000. Max 100,000 per calendar year.

Confirm and transfer
Check the confirmation box — you're relinquishing all rights to the points. Click "Transfer Now" and you're done. Points arrive within 24 hours.
Never transfer to an inactive account. If the receiving account is inactive, the transfer goes through but the points get cancelled. You lose them permanently. Always confirm the recipient's account is active before transferring.
Don't sell or transfer points to strangers. Marriott monitors transfers and reserves the right to cancel transactions it deems not made in good faith. Accounts involved in selling or trading points get permanently blocked — it's not worth the risk.

Sending limits
Max 100,000 points per calendar year. Minimum 1,000 points per transfer, in increments of 1,000.
Receiving limits
Max 500,000 points per calendar year. You cannot initiate a transfer from the receiving account.
Frequency caps
Max 2 transfers per calendar month, up to 6 per calendar year.
Account age: 30+ days
Both accounts must be open 30+ days with qualifying activity (a stay, co-branded card earnings, or points purchase). Accounts under 30 days can't send or receive at all.
Transfers don't extend expiry
Receiving or sending points won't reset your expiration date. However, buying Marriott points will extend expiry.
Inactive accounts = lost points
If you transfer to an inactive account, the transaction goes through but points get cancelled. You lose them permanently.
Website only
The Marriott Bonvoy app doesn't support point transfers. You must use the website. Phone transfers are possible but slower.

Transfer ratio to airlines
Every 3 Marriott Bonvoy points convert to 1 airline mile. Transfer 60,000 at once and get a 5,000-mile bonus — making the effective ratio closer to 2.4:1.

Always transfer in multiples of 60,000. You get 5,000 bonus miles per 60K block. Transferring 59,999 points gets you only 19,999 miles — transfer 60,000 and you get 25,000.

These Indian credit cards earn Marriott Bonvoy points directly, or transfer to Marriott via bank reward programmes.
Why Marriott matters: ANA Mileage Club has no direct Indian transfer partners. The only way to earn ANA miles from Indian cards is through Marriott Bonvoy. 60K Marriott = 25K ANA miles — enough for a one-way economy to Japan.
